The Official Unofficial Page
You’ve stumbled onto the independent corner of the internet run by me, Shellie Vandersluis. Think of this as my digital living room: sometimes thoughtful, sometimes messy, sometimes boring.
This site also has a twin over on Substack, where I post, chat with readers, and occasionally remember how to use the platform without swearing. Ghost is the experiment, Substack is the safety net.

By signing up, you unlock the full archive. Everything I’ve already written, plus everything still in progress. Basically, your own private library without that awkward “shhh” from a librarian. No one needs that.
Why Bother?
Because sometimes the internet is loud and weird, and it helps to have a space that feels a little more whatever this is. At least, that’s what I’m trying to build here.
Who is This "Shellie"?
Good question. I’m a doctoral student studying applied learning science, which basically means I spend a lot of time thinking about how people learn and how to make professional education less soul-crushing. I also run a consulting firm where I help teams untangle projects before they implode.
When I’m not writing about risk, resilience, leadership, or whatever tech gadget I’ve been experimenting with, you’ll find me debating my two teenage sons, hanging out with my very fluffy Pomeranian (Josie) and my cat with attitude (Cheshire), or pretending Pilates is a personality trait.
